Wed Apr 29, 2009, 8:47 AM
Con--Client may select an older style or theme from your portfolio that you have grown out of.

Pro--Intellectual challenge of designing with constraints.

Con--Client may request colors you don't normally use outside your comfort zone.

Pro--Guaranteed sale.

Con--Possible that you won't want to include it in your portfolio because it "sticks out" or you feel like too much of your aesthetic was compromised to make it.

Notes for Charger Series

Mon Apr 27, 2009, 11:36 AM
Been considering silver plating by liquid solution on glass for a few years. Mindful that it always tarnishes, I'm thinking about how to seal it without using typical mirror primer. I need something clear. I'm going to try my usual adhesive first; however, it has a vinegar smell. It's been years since I've worked with silver patinas and can't remember how mild acids react with it. I don't think the adhesive contains any sulfers.

I'm thinking of plating on the concave side of the chargers--the bead mosaics will be on the convex side. Inspired by the design of a tiny compact makeup compact cover by Line Vautrin:

I have four or five chargers. They'll each have a different color. They will be wall pieces. I haven't figured out what hardware to use for hanging yet.
